4th Street Studios Goes to the Dogs. Again.

W.C. Fields famously said, “Never work with children or animals.” Happily for us, Common Sense Media ignored that advice when they booked our white cyc for a video shoot yesterday. Producer Nicole Atkinson-Roach pulled together a fearless crew and booked adorable children, but it was Oliver, the soulful dog who stole our hearts. Oliver explored the green screen cyc, the model’s dressing room, the kitchen, garage and producer’s suite then settled in video village to keep a watchful eye on […]

What’s Inside The Black Box at 4th Street Studios? It’s The MirrorCam™!

When Square, Inc. booked our white cyc for their video production, we had no idea they would build a large 3-sided black box with gray seamless serving as the 4th wall. They then placed a black cubbyhole inside. The cubbyhole housed a MirrorCam™, a small table and director’s chair for Director Justin Lomax. The subject speaks directly into the camera, with the MirrorCam™ mounted on it. There they saw Justin, their colleague at Square talking to them. The enclosure screened […]

One Cyc. Two Great Looks.

Siemens wanted very different looks for two presenters–a scientist and a top executive–on a one-day shoot. Duarte Design booked our white cyc for its versatility. They opted for a very classic clean white background for scientist Dr. Stuart Goose. Executive Chenyan Xu loved the dramatic look Duarte designed for him. Director Brian Pugnetti, DP Tom Chandler and Gaffer Thomas Spingola created the effects with old style lighting techniques using cookies, gels & filters. With the white cyc as their […]

Yes, You Can Fly at 4th Street Studios

Master photographer Mel Lindstrom needed footage of an aerial artist for a promotional video for 4th Street Studios.  To ensure the safety of the artist Mel rigged a  harness from the center  beam in the main stage. The load-bearing beam is perfectly placed for the action to take place against any background–the green screen cyc or the white cyc. With DP Daniel Carettoni at the camera, Mel directed aerialist Naomi Hummel through a breathtaking sequence of aerial artistry. Dancer […]

Special Effects For Indie Film Shot on Our White Cyc & Green Screen Stage

Independent filmmaker Vincent Gargiulo is a wildly inventive satirist. His new film, “KNFR From 7:00 – 7:30” is a 30 minute parody of an 80’s children’s show (including very funny commercials). He recently filmed scenes here at 4th Street Studios forspecial effects to be added in post-production Gargiulo does a lot of filming on the streets of San Francisco, but that wouldn’t do for this concept. The SFX scenes on this film had to be shot on a professional stage. […]

Trending: Clean White Backgrounds on White Cyc

Jasper Hiatt and Tomiko Lee from Duarte Design Inc. needed a San Francisco stage with a white cyc to film Apple presenters. Our white cyc was the perfect solution. We’ve seen Apple’s influence in the increasing number of agencies choosing white backgrounds instead of green screen. Duarte Design is a welcome addition to the many agencies who have shot Apple productions at 4th Street Studios. Duarte’s client, Apple Project Manager, Diane Wilcox soon saw the benefits of bringing her presenters […]
